St George’s Hall is one of Liverpool’s most breathtaking wedding venues — and it’s a dream location for photography. With its grand neoclassical architecture, dramatic columns, and sweeping staircases, it provides an elegant and timeless backdrop for your wedding day.

As a Liverpool wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to capture love stories inside this iconic building, and every wedding here feels truly special.
Why St George’s Hall is Perfect for Wedding Photos
The Architecture – The pillars, arches, and sweeping steps are perfect for dramatic couple portraits during your wedding photography photoshoot.
Natural Light – The grand interiors are filled with beautiful soft light, ideal for candid shots.

Versatility – Whether you’re having an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, the Hall’s spaces adapt beautifully. The Sefton room is perfect for smaller and more intimate weddings, and is full on natural light from the windows. Whereas the Grand Jury room is suitable for larger weddings, and lit by a beautiful sky light.
Location – Situated in the heart of Liverpool, it’s just a short stroll from some of the city’s most photogenic spots (perfect for a little newlywed wander!).

Favourite Photography Spots at St George’s Hall
The Amazing Exterior – The iconic stone columns make for breathtaking couple portraits. I just love the outdoor architecture at St George's Hall. Even the large wooden doors frame shots perfectly.

The Grand Staircase - Upon leaving both the Sefton Room and Grand Jury room, there is a fantastic stone staircase, which makes for stunning photographs of you both

The Steps Outside – These are perfect for any organised group shots that you may want, and also for a big group photo of all of your wedding guests

St John's Gardens - Spring time is amazing in St John's Gardens. Located at the back of St George's Hall, you will find an abundance of daffodils and tulips, and bluebells later in May - you wouldn't know you were in Liverpool city centre. Plus, St George's Hall stands prominently in the background!

Real Wedding Inspiration
Every wedding at St George’s Hall is unique. Some couples opt for a traditional, elegant look that complements the venue’s grandeur, while others bring in modern, colourful details that pop beautifully against the historic stone.

I always focus on capturing the little moments too — the laughter as you walk down those sweeping steps, a quiet glance shared during the ceremony, or that celebratory hug with family in the gardens outside.

Tips for Couples Getting Married at St George’s Hall
Plan for Confetti – It’s one of the most iconic shots! Plus confetti is my absolute favourite shot. You can have your confetti shot either on the red carpet as you exit through the doors, or or those imfamous stone steps. The choice is yours!

Schedule Time for Portraits – Even 15 minutes outside the St George's Hall will give you time for some incredible images. The steps are perfect for shots, as is the cobbled area at the front of the building and the grand pillars
Trust the Weather – Rain or shine, the Hall’s interiors mean you’ll always have stunning photo opportunities. However, moreover, even if it is raining the exterior of St George's Hall is undercover so it's perfect for a rainy wedding!
