Lisa and Carl - Bartle Hall, Preston, Lancashire

As a Liverpool wedding photographer specialising in natural, relaxed and documentary-style wedding photography, I love capturing genuine moments that tell the story of each couple’s day. From emotional bridal preparations to laughter-filled celebrations, my approach to Lancashire wedding photography is all about creating natural wedding photographs that feel authentic and timeless. Lisa and Carl’s spring wedding at Bartle Hall was the perfect example of a day filled with real moments, beautiful surroundings and plenty of personality.

Lisa and Carl’s spring wedding at Bartle Hall was full of laughter, emotion and beautiful natural moments. With the pink blossom out across the grounds, a light-filled bridal suite and a relaxed atmosphere throughout the day, it was the perfect setting for capturing natural, documentary-style wedding photography.

The day began with Lisa getting ready in the bridal suite at Bartle Hall. The room’s large bay window filled the space with beautiful natural light, while the floral wallpaper and elegant details created a lovely backdrop for bridal preparations. Lisa shared quiet moments with her bridesmaids, opened a thoughtful bracelet gift from Carl and wore it as part of her wedding day look.

With help from her bridal party, Lisa got into her wedding dress before adding her Converse shoes, making sure she could enjoy every moment of the day comfortably. She then shared a special first look with her bridesmaids, who were completely amazed when they saw her ready. There were plenty of happy tears, hugs and emotional moments as Lisa also gave gifts to her bridesmaids and flower girls.

While the bridal preparations continued, I headed outside with Carl and his groomsmen to capture some relaxed photographs around the grounds of Bartle Hall. Alongside some traditional group photographs, we had fun with some more playful moments, including their James Bond-inspired poses. The best man helped Carl with his dickie bow before we captured some natural walking shots beneath the spring blossom, creating a relaxed feel that reflected their personalities.

The ceremony room at Bartle Hall looked stunning, with white flowers, candles, a chandelier, a white carpet and floral details creating a romantic setting for Lisa and Carl to say their vows. Lisa made her entrance down the staircase from the bridal suite, followed by her bridesmaids in elegant black dresses, while the groomsmen wore black tie.

Walking down the aisle with her son before joining her daughter partway through made the moment even more meaningful. One of Lisa’s friends gave an emotional reading, bringing tears to Lisa’s eyes, before the couple exchanged their vows and rings. After their first kiss and signing the register with their witnesses, Lisa and Carl walked back down the aisle full of excitement, cheering and celebrating with Lisa holding her flowers high.

After the ceremony, we headed outside for confetti and group photographs. Lisa and Carl gathered with their family and friends around the grounds of Bartle Hall, making use of the greenery and beautiful spring surroundings for relaxed group photographs. I also captured a wider photograph of all their guests together, giving them a chance to see everyone who shared their special day.

For their couple portraits, we explored the grounds of Bartle Hall, including the beautiful tree-lined driveway. The gates, trees and natural surroundings created the perfect backdrop for relaxed and romantic wedding photography. We captured a mixture of natural moments, including walking hand in hand, laughing together, a gentle twirl and those quiet moments where they simply enjoyed being together.

We also used the outdoor wooden beam structure within the grounds, with ivy, fairy lights and open views of the sky creating another unique backdrop. The warm tones and natural textures complemented the relaxed style of their wedding photography. We finished their portraits beneath the blossom trees in the wooded area, making the most of the beautiful spring colours.

The wedding reception continued with plenty of fun and entertainment. A magician kept guests amazed with some incredible tricks, while children enjoyed the open spaces at Bartle Hall. The atmosphere was relaxed, joyful and full of genuine reactions, which is exactly the kind of natural wedding photography I love capturing.

Lisa and Carl were introduced into the room before their meal and speeches, where they embraced the fun side of the day by putting on personalised aprons. Carl’s apron read “I always spill”, while Lisa’s joked about the price of her wedding dress. Their speeches took place against the warm brick backdrop of the reception room, with a cosy atmosphere and lots of laughter as Carl and the best man shared their words.

The day finished with a beautiful cake cutting. The two-tier white wedding cake featured a large black ribbon bow and a “Mr and Mrs” topper, perfectly matching the elegant black and white details throughout the wedding.
