Who knew an intimate autumn wedding could feel so epic? Lara and Karl’s Runcorn Town Hall wedding was full of those warm October colours, crisp air and a calm, personal atmosphere that suited them perfectly. With around 30 guests, the whole day stayed relaxed and focused on what mattered most: the two of them celebrating with the people they love.

Runcorn Town Hall is such a lovely setting for an autumn wedding. The gardens turn into a mix of red, gold and orange, and the building itself photographs beautifully from any angle. Even on a chilly day, the grounds feel bright and full of character. It’s one of those venues where you can keep things simple and still end up with photos that look incredibly elegant.

One moment I’ll never forget was Lara’s arrival. She pulled up in a huge hummer limo, and out of nowhere, a tiny dog decided it was ready to defend the town against this giant vehicle. It stared it down like it genuinely believed it could take it in a fight. Easily one of the funniest starts to a ceremony I’ve ever seen.

Lara found me after I photographed another couple’s wedding last year, and it honestly means a lot when people pass my name on. Being recommended is one of the nicest ways to end up at someone’s wedding day. There’s something special about walking in and instantly feeling a connection because you’ve already been trusted by someone they know.

As a Liverpool wedding photographer, I love photographing smaller, intimate ceremonies like this. You get so much space to focus on real moments and genuine reactions. Nothing forced. Nothing awkward. Just people enjoying the day exactly as it is. Runcorn Town Hall is perfect for that kind of approach, especially in autumn with all the colour and light in the gardens.
