Grosvenor Pulford Hotel, Chester
The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel, just outside Chester, is a venue that works in pretty much any season, which is always reassuring in this country. I’ve photographed winter weddings there with bare trees and open fires, and spring weddings where it somehow managed to snow and still look good. The big draw here is the outdoor space, especially the gardens and water features, but there’s plenty indoors too if the weather decides to be difficult. If you’re planning a wedding near Chester and want relaxed, natural photos without being dragged around for hours, this is a solid choice.

Why Grosvenor Pulford Hotel is a brilliant wedding venue
The gardens are the main reason couples choose the Grosvenor Pulford, and honestly, they’re hard to beat. There’s a pond with reflections, a waterfall, Japanese-style gardens, and a long wooden bridge that runs across the water with a willow tree hanging over it, which is one of my favourite spots for photos. It gives you loads of variety without having to walk far, which guests tend to appreciate.
Indoors, the hotel has a grand staircase, chandeliers, and an open fire in the reception area, so even if it’s cold, wet, or doing something unexpected, there are still plenty of nice backdrops. It’s a venue that feels calm and well laid out, rather than everyone being crammed into one space.
Photographing weddings at Grosvenor Pulford Hotel
From a photography point of view, the gardens are where the Grosvenor Pulford really shines. The pond and bridge work brilliantly for couple photos, especially if the light’s soft, and the waterfall adds a bit of movement without feeling over the top. Because everything’s so close together, it’s easy to get a good mix of natural, relaxed shots without disappearing for ages.
Inside, the staircase and chandelier are ideal if the weather turns or if you want something a bit more dramatic. I’ve photographed weddings here in February and spring, and it works well year-round, which is handy if you’re not planning a summer date. If you’re looking for a Grosvenor Pulford Hotel wedding photographer who keeps things low-key and unposed, this venue makes that easy.
Planning a wedding at Grosvenor Pulford Hotel
There are plenty of bedrooms on site, which makes getting ready straightforward and keeps everything in one place. The reception room has a warm feel with twinkly lights and enough space for the day to flow naturally from ceremony to evening without feeling rushed.
If you’re getting married here and want someone who blends in, doesn’t shout instructions, and focuses on real moments, you can check my availability on my contact page or have a look at my Liverpool and Chester wedding photography to see how I work across similar venues.
Real weddings at Grosvenor Pulford Hotel
I’ve photographed real weddings here in very different conditions, including a winter wedding for Katie and Alex, and a spring wedding for Talia and James where it snowed that morning. Despite the differences, the venue handled both beautifully, which says a lot. You can scroll through the weddings below to see how the Grosvenor Pulford looks across seasons and how the spaces photograph on real wedding days, not styled shoots.
