Unposed and autumnal wedding photography at the Out Barn in Clitheroe

24th October 2025

As a Liverpool wedding photographer, I photographed Grace and Dalton’s autumn wedding at The Out Barn in Clitheroe, a modern barn wedding venue set in the Ribble Valley countryside in Lancashire. Late October brought rain, mud, deep autumn colour and very little concern from either of them, which is exactly the kind of energy this venue suits.

  • The Out Barn is especially beautiful in autumn. The surrounding fields and trees shift into rich reds, burnt oranges and muted golds, and the curved structure of the building frames the landscape through its large windows. Even on a wet day, the light inside stays soft and flattering, which makes it ideal for relaxed, unposed wedding photography.

Grace and Dalton fully embraced the weather. Puddles, drizzle and muddy paths were all part of the day, and instead of fighting it, they leaned in. Grace started in chunky heels before sensibly swapping them for Crocs once we stepped outside, a decision that turned out to be both practical and unexpectedly photogenic. Dalton spent much of the portrait time lifting her dress clear of the wet ground, creating some of the most natural and affectionate moments of the day.

One of my favourite parts of the ceremony was their dip as they walked back down the aisle. They’d practised it, trusted it, and even on damp ground they nailed it effortlessly beneath the autumn flower arch. The Out Barn’s ceremony space works beautifully for moments like this, with enough room to move while still feeling intimate and connected to the guests.

For couples planning an autumn or winter wedding at The Out Barn, this venue is particularly well suited to unpredictable weather. The indoor spaces are bright and open, there’s plenty of shelter nearby for portraits, and the surrounding countryside always gives you options, rain or shine. You never feel boxed in, even when the weather refuses to cooperate.

I’m drawn to weddings like Grace and Dalton’s – calm, natural, and focused on enjoying the day rather than preserving perfection. The Out Barn in Clitheroe is ideal for couples who want a relaxed Lancashire barn wedding with space, light and atmosphere, whatever the season.
