Hope Street Hotel Wedding Photographer, Liverpool

Hope Street Hotel is one of those Liverpool wedding venues that just quietly works. Set on Hope Street between Liverpool Cathedral and the Metropolitan Cathedral, it’s right in the heart of the city while still feeling calm and welcoming inside. The spaces flow naturally throughout the day, with plenty of room for guests to move around and relax. With big windows and lots of natural light, it photographs beautifully in all seasons, whether it’s a bright summer day or a cosy winter wedding.

Why Hope Street Hotel works so well for weddings

Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. Hope Street has some of Liverpool’s best architecture, the Philharmonic Theatre, the iconic Philharmonic pub, and those famous suitcase sculptures on the street which are great for relaxed couple photos without having to go far. The cobbles add texture, the street always feels alive, and you’ve got two cathedrals framing the whole thing, which never gets old photographically. It feels like a proper Liverpool wedding venue!

Photographing weddings at Hope Street Hotel

From a photography point of view, the fifth floor is the star of the show. Wedding receptions usually happen up there(Fifth One and Fifth Two), with multiple balconies overlooking the city, which are ideal for confetti, sparklers, or just stepping outside for a breather and some natural, unforced photos. Inside, the floor-to-ceiling windows mean loads of natural light and brilliant city views, even when the weather’s doing its usual Liverpool thing. Downstairs, the Resisents' Lounge area with the grand piano is perfect for evening reception photos and adds a bit of character without trying too hard.

Planning a wedding at Hope Street Hotel

The staff are genuinely helpful and used to weddings, which makes the day run smoothly without you having to micromanage everything. One thing worth planning ahead is parking, as the hotel doesn’t have its own car park. Most couples book parking nearby, often at one of the cathedrals, which is easy enough as long as you know in advance. The venue works really well year-round too. It’s cosy and warm in winter with wooden floors and soft light, but still bright and airy in summer thanks to the space and outdoor access.

Real weddings at Hope Street Hotel

Below you’ll find real weddings I’ve photographed at Hope Street Hotel, showing how the day actually looks from start to finish. From city-centre ceremonies to fifth-floor receptions with skyline views, these are proper, relaxed weddings without the staged nonsense.

If you’re planning a city-centre wedding, you might also like seeing real weddings at St George’s Hall, Liverpool, which offers a very different but equally iconic backdrop.

I’d love to help  you capture your big day. Learn more about how I photograph weddings or get in touch to check availability.
