Hope Street Hotel Wedding Photography – Kathryn & Chris
This relaxed winter wedding at Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool was a perfect example of why it’s such a brilliant city wedding venue. Kathryn and Chris chose Hope Street Hotel for its light-filled spaces, panoramic views, and central Liverpool location, making it ideal for a calm, intimate celebration with close family and friends.
Kathryn got ready at Hope Street Hotel with her mum, her sister, and her two daughters, who were a big part of the morning. Her sister had travelled over from Canada, and the atmosphere during prep was unhurried and easy, with hair and makeup taking place in the hotel room. Before the ceremony, Kathryn shared a first look with her dad, which was a quiet, emotional moment before the day really began.
The ceremony took place upstairs at Fifth One in Hope Street Hotel, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Liverpool skyline. During the ceremony, their daughters gave a reading, bringing tears to both Kathryn and Chris’s eyes and making the moment feel very personal.
Afterwards, guests gathered on the large balcony for confetti, with the cathedral visible in the background. There was more than enough confetti for a second throw, followed by group photos in the same spot. We then took a short walk along Hope Street, using the cobbled streets, brickwork, and winter light for family photos with the children, and some relaxed portraits of Kathryn and Chris together. The bride’s veil was perfect for framing a few portraits, including one underneath the veil.
We also stopped outside The Dog and Collar, which was decorated with oversized red Christmas gifts and gold bows. Despite it being a busy December afternoon, we managed to get the shot, and it worked beautifully. Back inside Hope Street Hotel, the sun came out just in time for more portraits overlooking the city.
The wedding breakfast was an intimate meal with close family and friends, with a live artist creating illustrations of guests during the reception. Kathryn and Chris entered the room to a big, energetic welcome, with guests on their feet singing and dancing. As evening fell, the celebrations continued with sparklers outside, followed by dancing, cake cutting, speeches, and a memorable first dance in the Residents Lounge in the basement.
